Hollow Forms

Hollow forms are decorative objects with a descriptive name.  They are turned from blocks of wood shaped and hollowed on the lathe through a small opening on the top using special tools.  Hollow forms can be turned from any species of wood, but the more unique and figured woods make more artful and interesting objects.  The hollow form pictured here is made from Buckeye Burl.

Prices vary widely depending on the size, materials and other intrinsic value, such as voids and the thinness of the vessel walls.  The Buckeye Burl hollow form shown here measured 10 inches in diameter and 8 inches in height, had no voids and quarter inch thick walls.  It was priced at $500. The same hollow form from a block of pecan, torrey pine, ash, sycamore, alder, etc… can be as low as $150, depending on the cost of the wood.  If you are interested in a hollow form please use “Request a Quote” button.
